Dress Code Policy

01. DRESS CODE

Ontario Wholesale Energy prides itself on its reputation and public image. Ontario Wholesale Energy employees contribute to this by exhibiting professional conduct and behaviour during their work at the company or on company business. As a representative of Ontario Wholesale Energy, the employee’s style of dress should promote the positive image of the company.


1.01 The dress code policy provides general parameters to give guidance to its employees. Employees should aim to adopt a “business appropriate” style which reflects a mode of dress that is professional, yet approachable.

1.02 Employees who are attending a planned, formal meeting with external clients/customers should exhibit a “business” appropriate form of dress on the meeting day (e.g. business suit or business casual – dress shirt/suit/no tie).

02. PURPOSE

To maintain Ontario Wholesale Energy’s public image and reputation through ensuring the utmost professional conduct from its employees, including manner of dress at work.

03. SCOPE

This policy applies to all employees.

04. RESPONSIBILITY

4.01 Employees are responsible for complying with the dress code policy.

4.02 Managers are responsible for ensuring that departmental employees act within the parameter set by the dress code policy.

05. PROCEDURE

5.01 The following are not considered “business appropriate” dress: jeans (worn, faded, ripped), overly tight or revealing clothing, overly loose or baggy clothing, sports t-shirts, shirts with corporate logos, clothing with offensive slogans or images, casual shorts, tennis/running shoes and casual sandals (flip-flops or thongs).

5.02 In the event of a violation of this policy, Managers should administer the regular program of progressive discipline. If the violation is due to offensive attire, management should instruct the employee to go home and change. Time spent will be considered unpaid time off.
